A new genetic survey brings to light something I had long suspected: royal blood flows through these veins. My lineage on my mother’s side can easily be traced back to Niall of the Nine Hostages, an Irish king of the 5th century. So basically, I’m a prince of Ireland. It’s science.

Not to make you feel like less of a man, but I got 31 out of 33 on this bad boy. So, that means I’m some kind of freak-genius…

Just keep in mind, this test definitely has a British slant to its phrasing and that can throw you off on a couple. But you’re still not going to get as many right. It’s science.

TIME magazine has issued a comprehensive list of the top 100 novels of all time. Every time a list like this comes out, I’m tempted to make a ridiculous claim like, “I’m going to read every one of these!” Not just that, but also, “I’m going to get a library card! I’m going to rent one every week!”
Sadly, out of what are supposedly the 100 best novels ever, I’ve read only 13 of them, and those were almost all in high school (14 if you count reading the Cliffs Notes for Invisible Man and b.s.-ing my way through Mr. Crammatulo’s test), so I can’t remember anything about them other than the fact that I know I read them. So maybe I will take a crack at knocking this list down, one by one. Or maybe not.

Bored as I am today, I googled Rhuberg and perused through the listings. As you can imagine, there aren’t many Rhubergs out there, and I’m always surprised when Rhubergs pop up that I’ve never heard of before. I assume they must be related to me somehow, but have no idea how. George Rhuberg appears to be an active member in the Church of Christ in North Hills, CA. Who are you, George?
In addition to Rhubergs unknown, by far the most peculiar link I came across was the Index of Fatal Accidents in Schyukill County. While I’m not sure this really needs to be documented on the web (putting its relevance right up there with this site), I learned that poor Frank Rhuberg was killed in a mining accident on September 4th, 1908.
Here’s an awesome use of Google maps. For those of you unaware, Google distributed an API for their map program, allowing people to create useful applications with Google Maps at their cores. For anyone who runs, walks, or bikes outdoors, this program is fantastic. Just double-click on the map to create a route, and this program will trace your route, calculate the distance, and give you a way to save your route and bookmark it for later use… [Gmaps Pedometer]
Another neat little feature, TinyURL.com, let me create this unique link to my last long training run along the river in Boston before I head north of the border for a half-marathon… [8 miles in Beantown]
