Levi's Letter to the Daily
![]()
Hello,
Sitting in my B11 computer science class on Wednesday, I was reading a section of the daily dealing with the campaigns of ASG hopefuls. Talking to my friends, I realized that none of us had ever voted in ASG elections. I thought about it and tried to think of why this was the case. I think that the job of ASG should be to facilitate discussion between the students and the university in an effort to improve the everyday lives of the students. However, the campaign promises that I have heard so far (such as putting a video store at Norris) will probably have no real impact on my life.
I am running as a write in candidate for ASG vice president of student services. My platform is one of common sense, so I do not want to make any lofty campaign promises. I want to positively impact the every day lives of Northwestern students. Some of my ideas (and I would always be open to more) include: a push for online class registration, soap in all dormitory bathrooms, and working with student groups instead of telling them what to do. I also believe that it is important to inform students of the numerous services that already available to them. To learn more about my campaign, visit my web page at: http://pubweb.nwu.edu/~aer780/VoteForLevi/
I am tired of people using something that should be serious like ASG as a resume builder. I am a computer science major, which should prove to most people that I have no higher political aspirations. I'm not here to build my resume, I'm here to help you.
Look at my opponent's campaign promises. I can take none of them seriously. Everything she promises is either already in effect or not feasible. A post office or video store in Norris? I will quote Norris Director Bill Johnston, "We have tons of ideas, too. Its not a lack of ideas, its more a lack of available space." Renovate Blomquist? Renovations have already happened. In combination with Patten and SPAC, I think everyone's needs are covered. Online book exchange? http://www.yupon.com will be up again soon enough.
In essence, a vote for Levi is a vote against ASG. It is a vote against empty campaign promises. It is a vote against the status quo. Write in Levi Wolfe for ASG student services vice president.
Sincerely, Levi Wolfe CAS '00
